The Secretary General of the United Nations
Kofi A. Annan (April 2000):
There are two compelling reasons why
this tragedy must not be forgotten. First, if we forget Chernobyl,
we increase the risk of more such technological and environmental
disasters in the future. Second, more than seven million of our
fellow human beings do not have the luxury of forgetting. They
are still suffering, every day, as a result of what happened 14
years ago. Indeed, the legacy of Chernobyl will be with us, and
with our descendants, for generations to come.
The only way to make sure
Chernobyl will not happen again,
is the fastest possible, worldwide, controlled
retreat from atomic energy.
The only hope of mankind in this
are the United Nations.
And only if
the old IAEA shall alter.
´Because even today,
20 years past Chernobyl,
the task of to promote,
atomic energy
throughout the world.
That is
the reason
for the tour by bike
from Corsica to Finland:
ON THE AXIS OF EVIL
To give all people a reason for hope
that the right of security
there is one thing
we demand:
A new IAEA.
A new IAEA
with new task:
to promote
the fastest possible, worldwide, controlled
retreat from atomic energy.
Because 440 atomic power plants are 440
atomic power plants too many!
20 years ago no thinking human being was able to imagine
atomic energy to be ceased in 20 years...
One who is late will be punished by live!
In case of the next radioactive disaster
the price is too high
Progress does not come on its own
one has to act out for it act out for
the new IAEA.
Besides to promote
the fastest possible, worldwide, controlled
retreat from atomic energy
the new IAEA
shall have one more new task:
to organize funds for compensation
of all damage resulting from
atomic energy.
